Investigators in France were trying to figure out what was the cause of a shooting that took the lives of four people near a British registered car. Authorities said a 7-year old girl had survived the shootings and a younger girl, believed to be only 4, was found alive and not harmed inside the vehicle. Authorities found the young girl inside the BMW. She was amongst the corpses of a male and two females. Close to the BMW, authorities said a male cyclist, who had been shot and killed, was found. Nearby his body and around the area of the car were multiple bullet casings.
On Wednesday afternoon, authorities located the four bodies in Chevaline, a remote area in eastern France. The youngest girl who authorities found unharmed inside the car was in the car for a long period of time since investigators did not touch the car while they waited for crime scene specialists to arrive. Investigators said the girl was not seen from outside the car because she remained completely still amongst the three dead bodies.
Officials said the girl was terrorized, underneath the dead bodies and could not move. Physically, said doctors, the girl is fine, but will remain in the hospital for observation because of the trauma she went through. Officials said she was not in danger, but she had gone through a great deal emotionally.
Meanwhile, French authorities are attempting to determine what took place in and around the car. The British authorities are also looking into what took place. All of the three deceased were British, along with the two young girls, while the cyclist was French.
