Kuharsky: Gabbert the only one who knew what was happening

The Jaguars rather sloppy ending to Sunday’s game against the Panthers is getting a bit of attention. Not only is the criticism coming from local media, but a few national outlets are chiming in as well.

Following the confirmation of Marcedes Lewis’ catch, the clock began to run at 16 seconds. Gabbert immediately rushed his teammates to the line and sat back in the shotgun.

Then he called for the ball, hiking his right leg. Nothing. He called for the ball again. Nothing again.

Finally Gabbert got his snap, but by the time he did, the clock had run down to five seconds.

If you watch the replay of the end, you can clearly see the young quarterback’s frustration as the precious seconds are wasting away.

Paul Kuharsky may have said it best:

“It doesn’t speak well of Meester or Del Rio that Gabbert was the only one of the three who appeared to know what was happening when play restarted. “
