Trent Edwards to start Sunday against Texans

First Coast News is reporting that David Garrard is having surgery on his injured hand this week, and will not play Sunday against the Texans. Trent Edwards, acquired via the waiver wire from Buffalo earlier in the season, will get the start in his place. Edwards has completed 14 of 24 passes for 140 yards and two interceptions in a limited role this season for the Jaguars.[smartads] The timing of...

Three Jaguars voted to 2011 Pro Bowl

Maurice Jones-Drew, Marcedes Lewis, and special-teams ace Montell Owens will represent the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2011 NFL Pro Bowl, which will be held in Hawaii again following a one year absence from the state. According to Jaguars.com, the Jaguars haven’t been represented so well in the Pro Bowl since 1999, when seven Jaguars were voted to the AFC roster. The announcement is no doubt...

Where to point the finger: Jaguars vs. Redskins Report Card

Passing offense C- Garrard played well, as one would expect him to do going against one of the league’s worst pass defenses; however, two crucial mistakes in the passing game proved to be devastating to the Jaguars, especially the overtime interception. Both of Garrard’s interceptions were terrible throws. On the positive side, Mike Thomas enjoyed a decent game and made several key plays....

Jaguars can beat Redskins without Jones-Drew

Maurice Jones-Drew is listed as doubtful on the Jaguars official injury report and, barring a miracle, he will not play Sunday against the Redskins. Jones-Drew’s knee remains swollen and the team appears err on the side of caution — with good reason. The Redskins have the 30th ranked defense in the NFL. If there was one game the team didn’t need Jones-Drew to win — this would...

Jags need to move on quickly

Peyton Manning set the tempo early Sunday, driving the Colts down for a touchdown on their opening possession. For much of the first half, the Colts ran a quick or no-huddle offense that kept the Jaguars defense at bay. They also, surprisingly, ran the ball down the Jags’ throats. But that was last week. And although missing an opportunity to clinch a playoff berth, division title, and home playoff...

It’s all on the line; Jags ready for Indy

A little birdy (Twitter. Get it?) informed me that David Garrard’s infamous fedora made its way to Indianapolis. Whether or not he’ll have the opportunity to show it off will depend on him and the performance of his defense. Kickoff is less than 30 minutes away. Everything — the division title, a playoff berth, and a home playoff game is on the line today. You don’t need me...

Garrard questionable; Jags re-sign Bouman

David Garrard injured his hamstring in practice Thursday and is listed as “questionable” on the Jaguars’ injury report, along with Maurice Jones-Drew, who is nursing a sore knee. Courtney Greene and Justin Durant are listed as “out” and will not play Sunday. For security in the event that Garrard cannot go, the Jaguars have re-signed quarterback Todd Bouman to the active...

‘Uh-Oh,’ the 1999 Jaguars Super Bowl Song

The 1999 Jaguars were a dominating powerhouse, at least when it came to beating everybody but the Tennessee Titans. The Jaguars, of course, breezed into the AFC Championship game that season with a 14-2 record before getting smashed by the Titans a third and final time. One of the most intriguing aspects of the Jaguars’ 1999 season remains the team’s odd recording of a rap song. The recording...
